Welcome!

Welcome to the blogsite for the Allan Witt Park Development proposal in the City of Fairfield, California. This space is for comments and feedback on any and all aspects of the proposal to develop build homes, townhomes, apartments, flats and retail lofts on parts of Allan Witt Park and use proceeds from sale of park land to build a Sports Complex with ball fields, tennis courts and a youth center to relocate park facilities elsewhere in the city.

Visit http://www.allanwittpark.org for information and insights on the proposal. Do you have questions or comments? Do you think the proposal is a good idea? Post your comments here! We will forward your comments to the project team and post their responses here.

Best regards!

  • Thank you for doing this! Good information. Let's keep our park green and free.

  • I too agree that we should keep the park green and FREE. Once again the low income people in Fairfield are being disenfranchised. How? By taking away possibly their only chance at enjoying open green space. Is it the City's belief that poor people are not entitled to an open, spacious park with beautiful trees as they are in say Green Valley or Rancho Solano?

How can this new park configuration be called a community park? It is surrounded by buildings! How can anyone enjoy a stroll in the park with hundreds of eyes watching your every move?

If the City believes that crime is an issue in the park, which incidentally I haven't seen since I started visiting the park regularly, then isn't it the City's job to irradicate the crime rather than reducing the size of the park and replacing it with residential homes and businesses? We have crime in the Mall. We have crime in old downtown Fairfield. We even have crime in Green Valley. Are there talks about tearing down the Mall, or downtown Fairfield? You bet there aren't! This is just an easy way for Triad and Centex to get their hands on cheap land and build, build, build.

    Keep it green and free!
